weird connectivity

Postby Ravin on Wed Jul 28, 2010 10:37 pm

Seem to be having some odd trouble. I thought my router just went bad since I bypassed it last night and my connection then had no trouble. Tonight, however, I swapped in my xbox and it wouldn't see Live. I plugged my pc back in and then it couldn't get internet either. I reset the modem and internet seems to come back or at least my home page comes up but then it won't browse to another page. Check my phone and have no noise making an obvious problem. Try the pc again and suddenly I can browse.

/sigh

Gonna try the xbox again now but looks like I'm gonna have to trouble shoot my own line.

Quite possible. This is the same modem I got when I first got DSL so it's quite old. Will find out soon hopefully.

You'ld think it would be easier for an employee to get a product that the company offers...

Well, worked fine tonight for around 2 hours once I swapped it to the xbox and then it just quit and I couldn't get it to come back. Swapped it back to the pc and it worked for a minute and failed again. It didn't work properly again till I rebooted both the modem and the pc. It worked just fine every time since Thursday but it was only plugged into the pc. This issue has only come up when I've tried using the xbox. I just don't understand why it quit out of the blue after 2 hours. Wish I could bring my work laptop home so I could do more extensive testing while this is happening. I've tested it in early morning, noon and late afternoon hours and it always looks great. I guess I'm just fubar'ing the connection when I swap things around.
